The Department of Pharmaceutics and Drug Regulatory Affairs at JKKMMRF’s Annai JKK Sampoorani Ammal College of Pharmacy, Komarapalayam, consists of 16 highly skilled faculty members who excel in education, research, and development. The department bridges the gap between laboratory discoveries and real-world applications, focusing on transforming new chemical entities (NCEs) into safe, effective, and patient-friendly dosage forms. The Drug Regulatory Affairs (DRA) section ensures pharmaceutical products meet quality, safety and efficacy standards, preparing students to manage regulatory strategies, navigate compliance frameworks, and engage in post-marketing surveillance globally. With state-of-the-art laboratories, modern infrastructure, and a strong record of research publications and placements, the department empowers students to become industry-ready professionals capable of meeting global pharmaceutical standards.

Lab Facilities

The Department of Pharmacology at JKKMMRF’s Annai JKK Sampoorani Ammal College of Pharmacy, established in 1992, is a fully equipped research laboratory with state-of-the-art instruments and certified staff. The department is home to a CPCSEA-registered Animal House (1158/PO/Re/S/07/CPCSEA), approved for in-house educational and research use.

Instrumentation List

The lab serves as a hub for interdisciplinary research, offering students and scholars hands-on exposure to modern pharmacological methods. The infrastructure supports both academic exploration and scientific innovation under ethical and regulatory frameworks. Some of the key instruments available in the department include the Rotarod Apparatus, Actophotometer, Histamine Chamber, Student Bio Assay Instruments, Gel Electrophoresis, Cooling Centrifuge, Cook’s Pole Climbing Apparatus, Elevated Plus Maze – Rat, Electro-Convulsiometer, Open Field Test, Eddy’s Hot Plate, Elevated Plus Maze – Mice, Semi Auto Analyser, Digital Plethysmograph, and Metabolic Cage. These instruments provide critical tools for a wide range of pharmacological studies, from CNS research to analgesic testing and beyond.
